Elements of finite order in automorphism groups of homogeneous structures

چکیده
We study properties of the automorphism groups of Fräıssé limits of classes with certain strong amalgamation properties, including classes with the free amalgamation property and classes of metric spaces. We discuss conditions on a Fräıssé class K that imply that the automorphism group GK of its limit admits generic elements of order n for all n and show that, for many such K, any element of GK is a product of 4 conjugates of the generic element of order n for all n ≥ 2. Our constructions enable us to compute the Borel complexity of the relation of conjugacy between automorphisms of the Henson graphs, and to obtain some new results about the structure of the isometry group of the Urysohn space and the Urysohn sphere.

AUTOMORPHISM GROUP OF GROUPS OF ORDER pqr
H"{o}lder in 1893 characterized all groups of order $pqr$ where $p>q>r$ are prime numbers. In this paper, by using new presentations of these groups, we compute their full automorphism group.
متن کاملOn the nilpotency class of the automorphism group of some finite p-groups
Let $G$ be a $p$-group of order $p^n$ and $Phi$=$Phi(G)$ be the Frattini subgroup of $G$. It is shown that the nilpotency class of $Autf(G)$, the group of all automorphisms of $G$ centralizing $G/ Fr(G)$, takes the maximum value $n-2$ if and only if $G$ is of maximal class. We also determine the nilpotency class of $Autf(G)$ when $G$ is a finite abelian $p$-group.
متن کاملA survey of homogeneous structures
A relational first order structure is homogeneous if it is countable (possibly finite) and every isomorphism between finite substructures extends to an automorphism. This article is a survey of several aspects of homogeneity, with emphasis on countably infinite homogeneous structures. These arise as Fraissé limits of amalgamation classes of finite structures. The subject has connections to mode...
متن کاملOn equality of absolute central and class preserving automorphisms of finite $p$-groups
Let $G$ be a finite non-abelian $p$-group and $L(G)$ denotes the absolute center of $G$. Also, let $Aut^{L}(G)$ and $Aut_c(G)$ denote the group of all absolute central and the class preserving automorphisms of $G$, respectively. In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for $G$ such that $Aut_c(G)=Aut^{L}(G)$. We also characterize all finite non-abelian $p$-groups of order $p^...
متن کاملFinite Groups with an Automorphism Cubing a Large Fraction of Elements
We investigate the possible structures imposed on a finite group by its possession of an automorphism sending a large fraction of the group elements to their cubes, the philosophy being that this should force the group to be, in some sense, close to abelian. We prove two main theorems. In the first, we completely classify all finite groups with an automorphism cubing more than half their elemen...
